Updating table causes high processor utlization

Hi, I just upgraded our Oracle DB 10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.5, when we started the DB the CPU utilization jas increase to above 90%, this DB has no updated statistics for quite long time and when we tried to update it, it actually solved the issue.My question is does updating the statistics really did the trick?Whenever you perform major work on the database you should make sure the statistics are updated. Cheers RB If your db statistics ate not up to date, this can also cause high I/O and high CPU.

I suggest you to wait for a week or two and check the DB performance and then tune it (if necessary).

Run the Oracle 10 G parameter check script and make sure all the SAP recommended parameters are set.

First time I heard that portal table can reach to 11 GB size.
